INTRODUCTION
The Beginner Level Roller Derby Coaching Accreditation Course was developed to set up a sports specific coaching accreditation program for:
Current coaches who should be recognised as accredited based on their prior knowledge and experience within the sport of roller skating; and
Individuals training to become a coach of recreational skating.
This program aligns recreational skating with other mainstream sports and gives coaches the opportunity to be formally acknowledged for their skill and contribution to the sport.

The online course allows you to complete it in your own time, taking breaks as you require them.
Course Objectives
This course provides training for coaches to learn and understand the:
The roles and responsibilities of coaching; and
The essential skills and requirements of coaching roller derby.
Course Outcomes
After completing this course, participants have the knowledge to:
Explain the roles and ethical responsibilities of the coach;
Plan and review coaching sessions;
Assess and manage risk;
Safely conduct a training session;
Utilise a range of communication, teaching and behaviour management strategies to help participants learn most effectively;
Understand the importance of screening new participants;
Explain the different types of exercise and how to plan and execute safe warm-up and cool down activities;
The importance of hydration when exercising;
How to progress participants and integrate returning injured skaters.
